“Whenever and however you intend to give birth, your experience will impact your emotions, your mind, your body, and your spirit for the rest of your life.” -Ina May Gaskin
There is no ‘right’ or ‘best’ way to give birth. Birth in itself is a wild, unpredictable, and beautiful event that we get to experience, but not necessarily control. However, we can put certain things into place so that we can increase our chances of having a positive, calm, and empowered birth. One of those things is having a doula to support you and your partner throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
Research shows that having a doula:
-decreases risk of c-section by 25%
-decreases risk of being unsatisfied with childbirth by 31%
-decreases risk of baby having a low 5 min Apgar score by 38%
-decreases the use of medical pain relief by 10%
-decreases overall labor time by an average of 41 mins
-increases the likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth by 15%
